Roll out of Songbirds bespoke accredited system in Paediatric Critical Care!

We have been working with Polly Duggan, Play Leader in Paediatric Critical Care at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital to roll out our Songbirds accredited system across the Unit as part of our Sound Environments project. Songbirds Pathway of Progression sticker charts successfully celebrate children’s musical achievements and measure musical progression, highlighting three easy-to-understand achievements with staff and families: I listened to the music; I joined in; I took control. These record children and young people’s progression during sessions over time, are proudly displayed in their bed area and are shared with family and staff. The resources also include Songbirds safe badges and a final Songbirds certificate. The resources were initially developed in consultation with families and staff on Ward 83 as part of our flagship Songbirds programme working with long-term hospitalised children and young people, and we then commissioned a designer to create the beautifully illustrated and eye-catching designs for use across all of SMUK’s music projects.
